West Side whips Westfield

WESTFIELD – The West Springfield High School girls’ basketball team jumped out to an early lead at Westfield High School and never looked back.
West Side took advantage of Westfield’s turnovers, converting them into transition baskets en route to a 49-16 victory.
Westfield will have a week to regroup before returning to the court at Longmeadow Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.

Rams Win Again
Southwick 47, Turners Falls 33

Morgan Harriman scored 11 points to lead Southwick, and McKinley White and Makenzie Sullivan chipped in nine and eight points, respectively.
Southwick put together a first half lead, and withstood a physical response from Turners Falls in the second half.
“It was kind of a tough, ugly win,” Rams’ assistant coach Rick Harriman said.
Southwick improved to 5-1 overall.
In JV action, Southwick took advantage of 19 points from Tori Richburg – in just two quarters of action – to cruise past Turners, 36-19.

Saints Capture Victory
St. Mary 47, Smith Voke 43

St. Mary punched through in the win column behind a strong all-around team effort. Saints’ Karissa Foley (16 points) and Alissa Easton (11) led the attack. Stephanie Allen (8), Lauren Chapdelaine (7), and Alison Stanlewicz (5) also boosted the effort.
