Westfield State University to host Job Fair on July 20

WESTFIELD – Westfield State University is hosting a job fair July 20 in Scanlon Hall.

The university, like many businesses right now, has immediate openings and a shortage of workers.

“As the University sustains post-pandemic and more normal operations, we look forward to filling our vacant positions, mainly in Dining and Facilities. Like many other employers, locally and across the nation, Westfield State is finding hiring to be challenging given the current job market. We hope this special job fair will provide interest and ultimately the successful hiring of qualified individuals interested in joining our student-centered campus community,” said Donna DeCaro-Conley, WSU interim associate vice president, human resources.

To attract applicants, WSU is offering prospective employees a sign-on bonus of $500 and hourly rates ranging from $16-$17.

On-the-spot interviews will take place during the fair, which is from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Paper applications and laptops will be available for the completion of electronic applications, and Spanish and Russian translators will be on site for assistance.

According to a press release, there is a “wide variety of openings available at Westfield State University at this time include contracted and benefitted full-time and part-time positions in the Dining and Facilities departments. Flexible schedules are available. Positions for culinary workers, cashiers, dishwashers, cooks, kitchen attendees, custodial services, and more are available.”

WSU adheres to COVID-19 guidelines. Participants in the job fair who are not vaccinated are required to wear masks on campus. Although vaccinated individuals are not required to wear masks while on campus, they may opt to do so.

WSU Scanlon Hall is located at 577 Western, Ave. Parking is available and the campus is accessible via PVTA bus service.
