MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Westfield YMCA gymnastics team continues to stretch its success beyond the borders.
More than 1,000 gymnasts in Levels 2-9 and Xcel competed for some 40-plus northeast YMCA squads May 13-15 at the Goffstown YMCA Allard Center Gymnastics Team sponsored event at St. Anslem College’s Sullivan Arena in Manchester (N.H.), and Westfield had a nice showing.
Every gymnast who attended had to earn a qualifying score twice during the regular season in order to be eligible to compete.
In the Level 2 eight-year-old age division, Westfield’s Kenzie Kluiko placed ninth on bars. Annika Van Oostveen finished seventh on bars, and 10th on vault. Zoe Stevenson, 11, placed fifth on floor with a 9.075 and fourth on beam.
In the Level 3/11 Year Old B age division, Imzary Reyes claimed 10th on vault and 11th on floor. In the 10 Year Old B age division, Hannah Keeney scored three personal bests, placing third on beam with an 9.525, second on vault with a 9.6 and fourth all-around, scoring a 36.8. Olivia Irving, 9, was 14th on vault and bars. Makayla Rivera, 9, took gold on the vault with a 9.4. Rivera also placed sixth on the floor, scoring a 9.4 and sixth on beam, scoring a 9.275. She placed sixth in the all-around competition (36.225).
In the Level 4/12 Year Old B Age Group, Rylee Altieri placed second on vault. Nicole Marek, 13, placed fourth on floor with a 9.225 and was seventh on beam. Xcel Gold gymnast, Bianca Hiltz, 15, placed third on beam with her season best, 9.05. Xcel Silver gymnast, Abbey Hutchison, 13, placed sixth on beam (9.2).
In the 14 Year Old/Level 6 Age Division, Julia Maryanski placed seventh on bars and eighth on beam. Teammate Laura DelMonte placed third on bars. Level 6’s Sierra Moulton placed sixth on vault and thirrd on bars. Lindsey Jacobs placed thirrd on vault, fifth on bars and beam, and fifth in the Level 6/14 Year Old age division All-Around.
At 15 Year Old/Level 7, Miranda Wozniak scored two personal bests, a 9.525 on vault, placing second and a 9.525 on earning her Regional Championship Floor Championship (first overall). Wozniak also placed third All-Around. Level 7/14 Year Old, Avery Farquharson, placed second on beam and floor with a 9.35, and fourth on vault and bars. She earned the All-Around Championship title in her age group.
Notes: The Westfield YMCA Gymnastics program is currently running their spring session. Registration has begun at the YMCA for the summer session of recreational gymnastics classes. There will be an Open House week, June 21 & 23 for anyone interested in joining the competitive team or pre-team from 5:30-7 p.m.
