WHS girls’ lax wins neighborly battle

WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School girls’ lacrosse team won a “friendly” battle against Whip City neighbor, St. Mary, 19-10 Monday at Stanley Park.
Westfield’s Ashlee Owen scored a game-high four goals, and Victoria Whalen and Mackenzie Millikan had three goals apiece. Millikan also had two assists.
Lauren Chapdelaine and Andrea Watson led St. Mary with three goals apiece. Saints’ Becca Streeter and Bella Butler each collected one goal.

Zach Brown scored the lone goal for St. Mary. The Saints’ only win thus far is a 9-3 win over Holyoke Catholic in which Corey Papineau led the team with 5 goals and 1 assist.
Brown (1 goal, 1 assist), Andrew Mullen (goal), Zach Girard (goal), and Matt Wurster (assist) also contributed offensively in that game for the Saints. Peter Demos had 24 saves.
