WHS girls’ volleyball rolls; Rams tie again

WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School girls’ volleyball team is still a bit perfect.
Westfield defeated visiting Sabis, 25-20, 25-21, 25-8 yesterday to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
The Bombers were led by Ellen Ferst (19 service points, 4 aces, 2 kills), Kate Menard (4 aces, 2 kills, 2 blocks), and Abby Hart (6 kills, 5 blocks).

BOYS’ SOCCER
Southwick 0, Holyoke 0
Southwick’sTim Reardon (2 saves) and Patrick King (4 saves) earned a second shutout in net in as many tries with a tie at Roberts Field in Holyoke. The Rams played to a scoreless tie against Hampshire two days earlier.

GOLF
Southwick 14 ½, Easthampton 9 ½
Southwick’s Jake Hough (4 points) shot a 3-over-par-39 at Pine Grove Golf Course in Easthampton. Nick Maserelli collected 3 ½ points, and Kyle Manley had four points at the fifth spot.
Ludlow 246, Westfield 262
Taylor Schmidt and Mark Balicki tied for the team-low score of 42 for Westfield.
St. Mary 12, Hampshire 12
No. 1 golfer Noah Parker shot a 1-over-par-36 at Beaver Brook Country Club to pace St. Mary’s. Zach L. Brown shot a 40 for 3 Saints’ points.
Palmer 22, Westfield Voc-Tech 2
Westfield Voc-Tech Nos. 1-2 golfers, Jake Parsons and Connor Hall each shot a team-low 50.
