WESTFIELD – Six games into the 2015 season, and the Westfield High School boys’ volleyball team is still unbeaten.
Westfield won its sixth straight Monday night, a 25-16, 25-19, 25-10 defeat of visiting Minnechaug. The Bombers (6-0) still have not lost a set this season.
“This was a good way to open up league play against a team that challenged us with their good serving,” Westfield coach Tyler Wingate said. “Our offense continued to be efficient today and we made some tweaks to our defense that allowed us to make more digs as well.”
Several Westfield players contributed.
Manny Golob and Ryan Bucko delivered 12 kills apiece. Golob also had two aces and six digs; Bucko added one ace and three blocks. Igor Belokopytov recorded seven kills, one ace, and 10 digs. Eric Shilyuk recorded 20 assists, three aces, and six digs. Dmitriy Doroshenko finished with 12 digs and one ace.
“I’m happy with how our guys closed out the match in the third set, limiting Minnechaug offensively with good spot serving.”
