WHS softball edges Northampton, 2-0

NORTHAMPTON – Although the games are getting better, the Westfield High School softball team continues to step up to the plate.
Westfield remained unbeaten at 14-0 with a gritty 2-0 win over host Northampton Tuesday. The Bombers received solid pitching from Sarah McNerney.
McNerney pitched a complete game 3-hitter. She recorded eight strikeouts and yielded three walks.
Emily Chrzanowski (2-for-3, RBI), Maddy Atkocaitis (hit, RBI), Jules Sharon (hit, run scored), Katelyn Puza (hit), and McNerney (hit) tallied the lone hits for Westfield.
“We played great defense, Sarah pitched tough on the mound, and we did what we had to do offensively,” Bombers coach Joe Stella said. “Northampton has been touted as one of the powers, so it was a very big win for us.”
