WESTFIELD – The majority of high school sports teams have had a rocky road – home and away – thanks to poor playing conditions caused by cold, snowy weather late this past winter and on into the spring, and now rain.
For the Westfield High School boys’ lacrosse team, the road traveled thus far has been quite smooth.
Westfield won its sixth straight game, a 20-9 thrashing of East Longmeadow Friday at home.
Sam Scarfo (3 assists) and Matt Chlastawa (2 assists) scored five goals apiece to lead Westfield, which exploded for a 6-0 first-period lead. The Bombers were well in control of the game at the half, leading 13-2.
Zach Gentle (2 goals, 3 assists), Sullivan (3 goals, 1assist), Jeff Bourgoin (1 goal, 3 assists), Mason Balch (1 goal, 1 assist), Pat Liptak (1 goal), Jake Ackerman (1 G), Chris Ward (1 G), and Max Magipinto (assist) also contributed offensively for Westfield.
Bombers’ Craig Ward dominated the face-offs, and Mitch Weiss helped silence East Longmeadow’s offense.
Spartans’ Connor Humphries scored a team-high four goals and one assist.
