Women’s lacrosse earns academic honors

WESTFIELD – Westfield State’s women’s lacrosse program earned several academic honors for the 2018 season on Monday, as the team was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Association / Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad list, and four players earned individual Academic Honor Roll placements.
Seniors Brooke Williams (Minnechaug HS/Wilbraham, Mass.) and Stephanie Godek (West Springfield, Mass.), both business management majors, and juniors Lucy Barrett (Mt. Greylock/Williamstown, Mass.), a movement scicence major, and Allie Fedak (Minnechaug/Wilbraham, Mass.), a special education major, all earned individual honors.
The IWLCA honored 639 student-athletes from 189 different institutions on the 2018 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
The Owls team set a school-record for wins with an 18-3 overall record, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to eventual national champion Gettysburg, and excelled in the classroom as well.
To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women’s lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
