WSU places 3rd at Elms Invitational

CHICOPEE – The Westfield State University women’s cross country team placed third in the Elms College Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Chicopee State Park.
The Owls compiled 69 points in the 19-team invitational, trailing the University of New England (23 points) and Trinity College (57).
The University of New England placed five runners (1-2-3-6-11) in the top 11, led by freshman Brittany Sorbello, who was the individual winner with a time of 19:57 on the 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) course.
Junior Jenn Holley was Westfield’s top runner, placing seventh in 20:45. Freshmen Taylor Surrette and Jenn Asci finished eighth (20:47) and ninth (20:49), respectively. Junior Olivia Marshall was 21st and sophomore Michelle Kelleher placed 24th.
