Westfield resident Rita Hurt has made a habit of beating yours truly, “The Putz,” over the life of our pro football contest.
Hurt was oh-so-good with her picks in Week 12, destroying the competition with a nearly unbeaten record of 11-1.
“It was all luck, no skill involved,” Hurt said. “It’s fun though – the challenge, the gloating.”
Nobody could match Hurt’s production as she was just one win away from a perfect week. Even the Patriots failed to remain unbeaten as the Denver Broncos took out Gronk, and erased New England’s march for perfection.
This week, the Patriots (10-1) should bounce back against the lowly Philadelphia Eagles (4-7) in a late afternoon tilt at Gillette.
Sunday’s slate of NFL games feature several intriguing matchups.
Someone will take a bite out of the Big Apple when the New York Jets and Giants collide. The 6-5 Seattle Seahawks travel to Minnesota to take on the upstart Vikings (8-3). Games between the Falcons (6-5) and Bucs (5-6), Texans (6-5) and Bills (5-6), and Chiefs (6-5)-Raiders (5-6) also figure to have major playoff implications as we near the stretch run.
Don’t forget to pick our Sunday Night tiebreaker, another exciting contest pitting the Indianapolis Colts against the Pittsburgh Steelers, both 6-5 teams.
Good luck! – CP
