WESTFIELD – The Westfield wrestling team put up a valiant effort against visiting Northampton Wednesday night, but fell 36-29.
Westfield’s Josh Larriu wrestled up a weight class to 113 pounds and wrestled Alex Cotter well before falling by pin in the second period.
At 182 pounds, Westfield’s Max Radionov fell to Drew Mcauslin at 1:27 of the second period, Dennis Sevastianov wrestled up two weight classes to 160 pounds in only his second career match. Sevastianov had the match well in hand before being disqualified.
Cole Cannady had another strong performance for Westfield, winning by technical fall over Noah Brink, 23-8. Bombers’ Jack Yvon also wrestled up a weight class at 170, delivering a strong showing by pinning Alex Mounier at 1:40 in the second period.

Perusse, Rams put in extra, extra effort
Southwick 53, Commerce 52 (2 OT)
Sam Perusse hit the game-winning shot, a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining to escape Springfield with a thrilling one-point win over Commerce.
Mackenzie Sullivan delivered an all-around great game, finishing with 10 points, seven assists, and five steals.
In JV action, Southwick routed Commerce 35-14 behind a solid team effort with 11 players scoring. Isabella Poules and Kaitlyn Haseltine led the attack for the Rams.
BOYS’ ICE HOCKEY
Spartans clip Bombers
East Longmeadow 2, Westfield 1
Anthony Forest and Ben Wosky connected on two goals – Forest and Wosky had one goal and one assist apiece – to lead East Longmeadow at Amelia Park Ice Arena.
Mario Metallo scored the lone Westfield goal. Zach Jarvis and Liam Whitman earned assists.
Westfield goalie Cameron Parent collected 23 saves. East Longmeadow’s keeper finished with 30.
Westfield fell to 3-6.

Lancers post shutout
Longmeadow (WHS Co-Op) 6, Oakmont 0
Katelyn Joyal (2 assists) and Karalyn Jones scored two goals apiece to lead Longmeadow. Maddie O’Shea and Tess Bonavita each had one.
Kayla Brown, Lexi Levere, and Samantha Tenczar combined for 16 Lancers’ saves.
