Five different players scored to help the Westfield High School hockey team avenge a loss to one of the state’s best teams. The Bombers, who lost 4-2 in the teams’ previous meeting, defeated Wachusett 5-1 Monday.
Adam Collier, Sean Spohr (assist), Mike Santinello (assist), Neil Parrow, and Anthony Cagliostro (assist) each tallied one goal for Westfield (13-2-1). Conner Sullivan (2 assists), Nate Barnes (assist), and Brandon Miemiec (assist) also lent an offensive hand.
Cagliostro fed Collier for the first goal, shorthanded, to provide the only goal of the first period. The Bombers took command of the game in the second period, exploding for three goals. The teams exchanged one goal apiece in the third.
“It was a little different game today,” Westfield coach C.B. “Moose” Matthews said. “They were on their game – very aggressive, moving the park hard. It was a very good game.”
Westfield goalie Nick Leberto collected 30 saves.
