CHICOPEE – One Gateway male distance runner, and a team of female Gators deserve praise for a fine effort earlier this week. The results are as follows:
BOYS’ CROSS COUNTRY
Cathedral 23, Gateway 32; Chicopee Comp 23, Gateway 34
Chris Hanechak had the best finish for Gateway, claiming fourth overall in 19:00 at Chicopee State Park Tuesday. Brill Brunton (Cathedral) won the race (17:38).
Gators’ Kyle Bessette (19:45) and Davis Britland (20:48) finished in seventh and ninth, respectively.
GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY
Gateway 23, Chicopee Comp 32; Gateway 23, Cathedral 36
Nora Markey (22:59) may have won the race for Cathedral, but Gateway claimed four of the top 10 spots to defeat Chicopee Comp and Cathedral Tuesday.
Ashley Yost (26:03), Fay Grybowski (26:12), Arielle Baillargeon (26:28) swept 2-4 for Gateway. Gators’ Jessie Thomas was ninth (28:13).
