AGAWAM – Westfield’s run in the Division 1 boys’ volleyball west sectional tournament has come to an end.
Top-seeded Agawam bounced pesky No. 4 Westfield 3-0 in Thursday’s semifinal game. The Brownies completed a three-series season sweep of the Bombers with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-15 victory.
Agawam won all nine sets this season.
“I give Agawam a lot of credit,” Westfield coach Tyler Wingate said of the 17-2 Brownies. “They are a tremendous team. We battled hard tonight and at times played some of our best volleyball of the season.”
“It is disappointing to lose at this juncture for the third consecutive year, but shows the consistent growth in our program over that time and the quality players that are going through.”
