WESTFIELD – St. Mary pitcher John Daley won a pitcher’s dual, and the second-seeded Saints outlasted No. 10 Pathfinder (14-8) in a West Division 4 baseball quarterfinal 2-0 Monday at Westfield Middle School North.
Daley threw a complete-game, two-hitter. He struck out six batters and walked two.
Pathfinder ace Andrew Roman allowed two runs on four hits. He had eight Ks, and walked one.
Matt Masciadrelli drove in both runs for St. Mary (19-2) with a base knock in the fifth inning. Saints’ Drew Collins went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
St. Mary moves on to face No. 6 Hopkins Academy (10-10), who upset third-seeded Smith Academy 2-0 in a quarterfinal matchup.
