WESTFIELD – The Gateway Regional girls’ basketball team won the latest bout with its friendly neighbor.
Kaitlyn Mastello recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Gateway past host Westfield Voc-Tech, 42-29, on Monday night.
Voc-Tech trailed just 20-15 at halftime. Gateway outscored the Tigers 14-5 in the third quarter to pull away.
“That pretty much sealed the deal for Gateway,” Voc-Tech coach Matt Seklecki said of the Gators’ third-quarter run.
Elyza Colson led the Tigers with 13 points.
