WESTFIELD – Track and field standout Tom Gauger (Billerica, Mass.) has been named the Westfield State University 2013 Senior Male Athlete of the Year.
Gauger is a two-time NCAA Division III All-American and a four-time national qualifier in the pole vault. He has earned All-New England honors 10 times and three All-ECAC Division III certificates.
Gauger is a seven-time MASCAC champion, and this year the talented senior achieved the rare feat of winning conference championships in both the pole vault and long jump.
Last year he shattered a long-standing school record in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 16 feet, five and one-quarter inches.
