WESTFIELD – Still perfect.
The St. Mary’s high school girls soccer team remained undefeated with a thrilling 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Easthampton Wednesday at Westfield Intermediate School.
Ali Goodreau scored the eventual game-winner in the third quarter on a great feed from Macy Woodger.
Amelia Willenborg was stout in net for St. Mary’s, recording her fourth straight shutout with 10 saves. Willenborg stopped a penalty kick to seal the victory.
The defensive play of Woodger, Paighton Ramos, Lillian Nadler, Kailyn Cabrini and Emma Bialas was incredibly effective in preventing a very talented Easthampton team from scoring as well.
“I could not be more proud of these girls,” St. Mary’s girls soccer coach Pat Olearcek said. “The team we played today was extremely skilled and very good. This was a great step for our program to continue to grow and give the girls confidence to play against teams from higher divisions.”
St. Mary’s improved to 4-0.
