WESTFIELD -Westfield Public Schools Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski said the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has further updated its guidance regarding high school graduations.

Czaporowski said after May 29, there is no gathering limit set by the state, so there are no set capacity limits for graduation. Additionally, for outdoor graduations, the limit of six guests per graduate, advanced registration, and health attestation is recommended but no longer required.

Also effective May 29, and for outdoor graduations only, attendees and staff are not required to wear masks and are encouraged to distance from individuals not in their household as feasible. Attendees who are not vaccinated are encouraged to wear face coverings.

Graduates may also be handed their diplomas and awards, and the band and chorus are allowed to perform, Czaporowski said.

Despite the lack of a distancing requirement, individuals are strongly encouraged to maintain distance between households, and seating should be set up to facilitate this. Westfield Technical Academy graduation is June 3 at Bullens Field and Westfield High School graduation is June 4 at Bullens Field.
