WARE – The Gateway Regional baseball team put up a fight with the Ware Indians yesterday before falling late, 10-6.
Ware managed to pull out the victory by scoring four runs – all unearned – in the sixth inning. Gateway had trailed by just one run, 6-5, prior to the error-plagued inning.
Justin Edinger went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Gateway (5-6). Gators’ Jeffrey Sobotka went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Willis Pollard (1-for-2) scored two runs.
Johnny Haskell had a nice game defensively in center field.
“We’re feeling good about coming back again in another game like we’ve been doing all year,” said Gateway coach Gary St. Peter, whose team rallied from an early 6-1 deficit. “Momentum is definitely on our side.”
The Gators had a chance to tie the game, but left the bases loaded – after scoring one run – to end it.
