HUNTINGTON – Christian Burton-Hill scored a game-high 14 points, 12 Duggan Academy players all got into the scoring column, and the Jayhawks spoiled the Gateway boys basketball team’s season opener.
Duggan Academy opened with a 22-0 run, not allowing a point in the first quarter en route to a 70-30 win Thursday.
Duggan’s Chris Kelley and Thomas Smith finished with seven points apiece. Ty’Voun Alston-Person, Joshua Figueroa, Juan Hernandez, and Kamari James scored six points apiece for the Jayhawks (1-0).
Nathaniel Bushor led Gateway (0-1) with 11 points. Tanner Beebe and Spencer Buckman finished with seven apiece.
Gateway will look to rebound Monday when Pathfinder comes to town. The Gators and Pioneers will tip off at 6:30 p.m.
