Kotfilia, Bombers tops

WESTFIELD – Westfield High gymnast Emma Kotfilia produced an electric performance, helping the Bombers charge to yet another tri-meet sweep in a decade of dominance for the team.
Kotfilia finished first in the all-around competition with a 34.75, winning the uneven bars (9.0), balance beam (9.0), and floor exercise (8.75).
With 134.05 points, unbeaten Westfield vaulted past Minnechaug (130.575) and Chicopee Comp (123.75).
Westfield’s Liz Walker launched past the competition with a first-place 8.8 finish on the vault. Walker placed second on the bars (8.75) en route to a bronze medal in the all-around (33.75).
Kendall Neidig (beam, 8.5) and Carly Thayer (floor routine, 8.05) claimed second-place finishes in their respective events. Mairead Hagan (8.35) and Neidig (8.25) placed 4-5 on bars.

Southwick goalie Tori Richburg finished with five saves.

Spartans down Bombers
East Longmeadow 3, Westfield 1

Kelsey Kiltonic scored on a pass from Lindsay Kiltonic for Westfield’s lone goal. Bombers’ keepers Jessica Healey and Lindsay Cousins combined for 23 saves.

Pioneers silence Saints
Pathfinder 6, St. Mary 0

Tiffany Papesh and Amber Aby scored two goals apiece to lead Pathfinder to victory.
Despite fielding just nine players – Sam Manchino, Steph Allen, Brianna Rivera, Elisa Kosinski, Olivia White, Ashley Forest, Lexi Shedd, Jessica Crosby, and goalie Francesca Depergola (37 saves) – St. Mary displayed tremendous effort.

Gateway 0, Smith Academy 0

Becca Herman recorded four goals in a shutout in net for Gateway.

Joseph Mozdzanowski scored two goals, and four others notched one apiece to lead PVCS at Westfield Middle School North.

Lions delay WHS entry
Ludlow 167, Westfield 172

Ludlow delayed Westfield’s postseason entry, defeating the host Bombers at Tekoa Country Club.
Ryan Towel finished with a team-low 41 for Westfield. The Bombers (8-5) will get another crack at qualifying for the playoffs next Thursday against East Longmeadow at Tekoa Country Club.

Durand, Stratten lead Rams
Southwick 17, South Hadley 7

Bradley Durand and Joe Stratten each shot a team-best 37 for Southwick, which improved to 12-1. Rams’ James Longhi recorded a 38.

Spear, King tops on course
St. Mary 19, Westfield Technical Academy 5

St. Mary’s Johnathan Spear and Westfield Tech’s Matt King led their respective teams with 40s at East Mountain Country Club.

Davis, Demaio propel Rams
Southwick 26, Hampshire 29

Jack Davis (17:23) and Jared Demaio (18:01) finished first and second overall for Southwick, which improved to 4-2.

Walz runs away with Saints’ top honors

St. Mary freshman Joe Walz continues to post impressive results, crossing the finish line in 20:33, good for third place.

Three different players scored in Greenfield’s home victory. Leighanne Sullivan tallied Westfield’s score. Gabbi Lunardini earned the assist.

Purple Knights elude Rams

Holyoke managed one goal in each half to slip past host Southwick. Rams’ Emily Martin scored off a pass from Alyssa Pompi.

JV GIRLS’ SOCCER

Camryn Hughes scored for Southwick. Zelida Madera assisted on the play. Rams’ keepers Hannah Gerrish and Maya Daley combined for 10 saves.
Southwick’s record currently stands at 4-3-2.
