LONGMEADOW – The Longmeadow High School boys’ lacrosse team has resumed its place atop Western Massachusetts as the team to beat.
Kevin Hussey scored five goals to lead Longmeadow past Westfield 13-6 Tuesday, sweeping the season series against the Bombers to remain unbeaten at 15-0.
The Bombers, whose only two losses have come at the hands of the Lancers, fell to 15-2.
One year ago, Westfield bounced Longmeadow from the postseason, beating the Lancers for the first time in several years. This year, things haven’t gone quite so well for the Bombers – in each of these two games.

On Tuesday, Longmeadow raced out to the early lead and never looked back.
“We were too slow,” Westfield coach Mark Cavalon said. “(Longmeadow) seemed like they were moving at a faster pace. Our clearing game was not good. We made too many turnovers … It was one of those game that I though they outplayed us frankly. If you don’t play your best against them, it’s problematic.”
Sam Scarfo scored a team-high four goals for Westfield. Bombers’ Anthony Sullivan and Mason Balch collected one apiece, and Matt Chlastawa made three assists.
