Letter to the Editor: Harris seeks your vote

To All —

Thank you to the thousands of Voters who voted for me in the past and to new supporters this year.

For 6 years I have been the Voice of STOP SHIFTING THE BURDEN OF TAXES ONTO THE HOMEOWNER. You would by paying less in Taxes had the full Council supported my motions over those 6 years. I’ll continue to make that motion for the Lowest Tax Rate for Homeowners/Renters.

As a Human Resource expert I understand jobs, pay and what is necessary to run a good business (City). (Masters Degree). As a former City Assistant Assessor I understand taxes, budgets, real estate values.

For all our safety it is important to support our great Police, Fire and First Responders so we can focus on other issues. Roads are now being replaced, not just pot hole repair, resulting in less vehicle damage. Children of all abilities and important Educators need the State to update and increase School Funding. All Traffic issues need to be examined and resolved.

One million dollars has been given to our City recently in refund costs for Water Treatment, more $$$ to come. Our City has been recognized as a leader in this area and been given many awards as experts concluded this is the best solution at this time. The Dept. of Environmental Protection, Senator Humason, Rep. Velis, Senators Warren and Markey, Congressman Neal, Mayor, Law Dept., Dept. of Public Works, Engineering Dept. and citizens helped make this happen.

The Arts and Sports are positives for youth and adults and enrich Westfield with good wholesome entertainment.

I am the only woman Councilor AT LARGE (1 out of 7) for 6 years—Women we can do it! and Men this assures you that your Daughters, Sisters, Mothers can have a strong voice! My dedication is sincere and I have not missed a Council meeting in those 6 years, even with the death of my husband since the last election.

Focusing on the GOOD and GOOD CITIZENS in our City helps us all as a Community.

Lastly, as another Veterans’ Day is upon us and as a Gold Star Daughter (Father was a Korean War casualty) I extend my heartfelt Thanks to all Veterans who protected the U.S. throughout time and their Families—and I also thank all those actively serving and their Families—HEROES ALL!

Cindy C. Harris

City Councilor AT Large
