Little League tourney action heats up

WESTFIELD – It was a busy weekend of Little League Baseball All-Stars for the Whip City’s championship hopefuls.
Westfield American’s 12-year-old Majors stormed out of the gate with a 24-0, 3-inning shutout of Gateway on Saturday.
In the 10-year-old tournament, Westfield American split its weekend series, blanking Amherst 10-0 Saturday before falling to Westfield National 7-4 Sunday. Also, Longmeadow silenced Gateway 15-0 in a mercy-shortened, 3-inning contest.
Other games included Westfield Seniors at Belchertown, Gateway’s 10s at Westfield National, and Westfield American’s 11-year-old at Belchertown.
