CHICOPEE – Westfield saved the best for last.
The Westfield High School gymnastics team delivered its finest performance of the season, falling to Minnechaug by less than three-tenths of a point (133.725-133.450) in the West Sectional Championship Saturday at Chicopee Comprehensive High School.
“Westfield did such an amazing job tonight,” Westfield coach Beth Liquori said. “They brought their ‘A’ game tonight for sure. It was definitely their best meet of the season.”
Westfield not only took home silver medals in the team competition, but also captured the team sportsmanship award. Bombers’ senior Miranda Wozniak received the senior gymnast award and Kylie Liptak was the top all-around with a 34.75.
“Those are big wins in my book,” Liquori said.
