Palma, Pray winners at Invite

SPRINGFIELD – Sabrina Pray was a winner in the 60 hurdles and senior Naloti Palma (Westborough/Westborough, Mass.) took first place in the shot put to lead the Westfield State women’s track and field team’s efforts at the Maroon and White Invitational meet at the Springfield College field house on Saturday.
Palma put the shot 13.02 meters (42′-8.75″) in winning the event by more than three feet over her closest competitor. She also took second place in the 20-lb. weight throw with a toss of 51′-1″.
Pray got home in the 60 hurdles in a time of 9.29 seconds, improving both her standing and time after qualifying third in the prelims in 9.51. She also earned a third place finish in the long jump.
Westfield also got a winning effort from the 4×800 team.
Ashley Monahan placed third in the 400 and fourth in the 1000 to score significant points.
The Owls placed fourth with 115 points. Hosts Springfield College won the meet with 157 points.
Westfield will return to Springfield College next Saturday for another invitational meet.
