WESTFIELD – Sophomore forward Andrew Wigg tallied two goals and two assists and Plymouth State University snapped a 2-2 tie with four third-period goals in a 6-2 victory over Westfield State University on Saturday evening.
Plymouth and Westfield are now tied for second place in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with 7-5 records. The Panthers are 9-10 overall while Westfield drops to 8-11.
Wigg opened the scoring with two seconds remaining in the first period. Plymouth took a 2-0 lead midway through the second stanza on a power play goal from Ian McGilvrey.

Westfield, which was outshot by a whopping, 48-22, played its best in the final five minutes of the second period when Frank Zuccaro and Dan Loughlin lit the lamp to knot the score at 2-2.
But Plymouth completely dominated the third period, outshooting Westfield, 18-4, while scoring its four goals.
Zach Sarig scored the game-winning goal 26 seconds into period on a power play. The Panthers took a 4-2 lead four minutes later on a Chad Barthelmess goal while both teams were down a player because of penalties. Wigg lit the lamp for the second time midway through the third period and Mike Economos scored with 3:54 remaining.
