Pats stumble; Proietti leaps past competition

In the words of my chief statistician Melissa Hartman: “So that was a disaster.”
No, Melissa was not talking about my recent record of 10-4 (yes, I am on a bit of a roll lately). She was talking about the Patriots’ disastrous performance.
While the defense has earned the moniker “Boogeymen” this season, the offense is scaring no one. A banged-up offensive line, lack of a solid running game, and the absence of Gronk is truly hampering Brady’s bunch.
…And now there’s the recent allegations of yet another taping incident. (Although I do doubt that New England was that worried about the lowly Cincinnati Bengals.)
Only seven entrants managed to top my 10-win effort. Out of those seven, two participants emerged with a 12-2 score. Ang Proietti, of Southwick was crowned the Week 14 winner with a tiebreaker total of 38 points. The actual combined score of the Sunday night game was 40.
A couple of interesting tidbits regarding our contest. The vast majority of people are jumping off the Pats’ bandwagon. Also, most people picked the Seahawks over the eventual winners, the Rams.
(Thanks for that data, Melissa.)
Melissa has also informed me that some people are still sending in late entries, missing our Friday night deadline (11:59 p.m.), leaving no phone numbers, and forgetting their tiebreaker points. (Half points are not allowed.)
Make sure when filling our your entry forms to pick all games, enter a tiebreaker total for the Sunday night game, enter your name, address, and phone number.
You don’t want to miss out one of our amazing prizes – a weekly $25 gift certificate to The Tavern Restaurant – and a chance at the end-of-season grand prizes – a Super Bowl party spread, courtesy of North Elm Butcher Block (valued at approx. $1,000), a charcoal grill from Manny’s Appliances, or a $100 gift card to the Delaney House.
