12:05 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a caller reports an erratic operator, the responding officer reports the vehicle was seen straddling the center line and it pulled into an East Main Street parking lot, the attached plates were found to have been issued to another vehicle, the operator said that he had never had a license but a routine check revealed that his license had been suspended and that he had previously been charged with operating with a suspended license, the vehicle was found to be uninsured and unregistered, a pat frisk revealed a large amount of money in the man’s pocket which was counted to be $870, an inventory search of the vehicle revealed a bag of heroin, during the booking process the man was found to have concealed ten bags of heroin and a small bag of marijuana between the cheeks of his buttocks, he was also found to have a small bag of heroin concealed in his hand, David Centeno, 22, of 396 Main St., Indian Orchard was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (a subsequent offense), operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute, a number plate violation to conceal identification and a marked lanes violation;
8:04 a.m.: suspicious person, Day Avenue, a caller reports a suspicious male party is sleeping in the foyer of a multi-family house, the responding officer reports the man said that a friend who lives in the house did not answer his door the night before so he slept in the foyer, the man was sent on his way;
11:23 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Southampton Road, a code enforcement officer reports he assisted the city’s building and health inspectors at a Southampton Road business, the officer reports the building inspector advised the owner of required permits;
11:46 a.m.: animal complaint, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 60 Broad Street, a caller reports that a raccoon found behind a church is wobbling and growling, the manager of animal control operations responded and reports she took custody of the animal which will be surrendered to a wildlife rehabilitator;
12:28 p.m.: Moseley Avenue, a patrol officer reports he observed a parked vehicle with a rejected inspection sticker, a check revealed that the vehicle’s registration had been revoked for lack of insurance, the registration plates were seized;
2:19 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports a vehicle was found to be bearing registration plates which had been issued to another car, the operator was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Elizabeth Ann Scott, 33, of 30 Freemont St., Springfield, was arrested on the warrant issued in 2013 in Chicopee District Court;
4:12 p.m.: accident, Root Road at Sabrina Brook Lane, a patrol officer reports he is out with a 10-year-old boy who was struck by a car, the officer reports the boy walked into the path of a vehicle and his hand was struck by an exterior mirror, the boy was transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released;
4:50 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road at Union Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
4:57 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to have been revoked for lack of insurance, the car was towed to the police impound yard;
5:52 p.m.: found property, Kasper Drive, a caller reports her grandson found a credit card while shopping, the responding officer took custody of the card but, although the owner was identified, the owner could not be immediately contacted and the card was stored for safekeeping;
7:51 p.m.: arrest, East Main Street, an officer reports he observed a known person believed to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, a responding officer reports the warrant was confirmed and the man taken into custody, Jacob Allen Depalo, 23, of 92 South Maple St., was arrested on a warrant issued in 2014 in Pittsfield District Court;
10:15 p.m.: suspicious activity, Cross Street at Main Street, a caller reports seeing three pedestrians and believes one removed a lawn ornament from a house on the corner, the responding officer reports he spoke with suspect who was not in possession of a lawn ornament, the resident of the pertinent house was not at home.
