WESTHAMPTON – The Southwick High School boys’ soccer team came away from Wednesday’s road opener with mixed feelings.
Southwick failed to defeat Hampshire, but avoided losing its first game of the 2015 season, tying the Red Raiders 2-2 Wednesday.
Bailey Emerson and Ryan Todesco scored one goal apiece for Southwick, which managed a 1-1 tie at the half. Austin Leary earned an assist. Rams’ goalie Nick Chambers finished with 10 saves.
Dillon Pooler notched both Hampshire goals.
Panthers silence Gators
Palmer 2, Gateway 0
Joao Soares scored two goals, and Jake Riel (10 saves) recorded a shutout in net for Palmer.
Gateway goalie Shane Mastello finished with 11 saves.

Caroline Methe (8 assists, 2 aces), Katrina VanderVliet (6 aces), Emily Lachtara (5 kills, 2 aces), and Ashley Consolini (4 kills, 2 aces) helped Southwick defend their home court Wednesday.
Cassandra Paradee delivered consistent serving for Smith Voke. Stephanie Start was solid at the net, and Avalon Darby contributed with eight assists.

Alex Glanville shot a 1-under-par 33 to lead Holyoke past visiting Westfield at Wyckoff Country Club.
Ryan Towle (38) and Neil Sheehan (42) posted the lowest scores for the Bombers (2-1).
JV BOYS’ SOCCER
Southwick 4, Hampshire 2
Jameson Secovich and Jared O’Connor hooked up for a pair of goals (Secovich scored both), and Kacper Kisala and Matt Allen tallied one apiece for Southwick.
