Rams top Hamp; Sullivan cycles

SOUTHWICK – Some may say Tuesday’s outcome for the Southwick High School baseball team was a statement. It was more like an exclamation point.
Southwick pitcher Bob Hamel tossed a one-hitter and the Rams exploded for nine runs over the fifth and sixth innings to blank visiting Hampshire 9-0.
Hamel recorded eight strikeouts and walked four.
Eddie Martinez led Southwick at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Rams’ Jake Goodreau had a double, run, and RBI.

Sullivan cycles WHS past EL
Westfield 20, East Longmeadow 8
Chris Sullivan hit for the cycle, belting a single, double, triple, and home run to help fuel a convincing win on the road Tuesday.
Sullivan went 4-for-5 with two walks, five RBIs and three runs scored. He was not alone in his quest to overcome East Longmeadow.
Colin Dunn went 4-for-6 with three doubles, three runs, and two RBIs for Westfield (6-3).

Saints rally past Pioneers
St. Mary 3, Pathfinder 2

St. Mary scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Pathfinder.
Ryan Gendron went 2-for-3; Shawn Gezotis blasted a double, walked once, and drove in two RBIs; Colin Blake and Harry Reed each had a hit and a a run scored; Hunter Authier drove in a run; and, Steve McKenna scored a run to lead the Saints.
Matt Hannoush scattered five hits, struck out four batters and walked three, while yielding two earned runs in four innings on the mound for St. Mary. Saints’ John Daley allowed just two hits, recorded 5 Ks, and walked two over the final three frames.
St. Mary entered Tuesday’s game fresh off a 3-0 win over Turners Falls on Saturday. In that game, Colin Blake scattered four hits, struck out four batters and walked two in seven complete innings. Blake helped himself at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Charlie White went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Shea’s Day
Southwick 12, Hampshire 0

Southwick’s Bart Shea had a stellar day, and the Rams rolled over the competition.
She tossed six innings of three-hit baseball, striking out nine batters and yielding not one free pass for his second win of the season. He also led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.
Josh Silvia knocked in two runs with a double. Tyler Orbin, Connor Roy, Johnny Cesan, Sam Mizzanoglu, and Dylan Parrow singled for Southwick.
The Rams improved to 3-4.
In late Monday softball action, the JV Rams routed Monson 15-1.

It was another tough outing for Gateway, which suffered a 31-0 loss to Central on Monday.
