WESTFIELD –Thousands of people are expected to visit the city for Westfield’s 350th anniversary celebration this weekend and Harry Rock hopes they are welcomed by the Whip City’s community spirit.

Rock, president of the Westfield 350 Committee, said he would love for everyone to show their city pride and decorate for the event.

“We are asking people to dress up their homes and businesses with festive lights to make Westfield look special, similar to the birthday cake on the green,” said Rock. “I am hoping to have everyone do something with their property to show their civic pride and help make Westfield look like a big birthday cake in honor of its 350th birthday celebration.”

Park Square Realty’s office on Elm Street was decked out with red, white and blue bunting and the numbers “350” in the front window.

Park Square Director of Growth and Development Barry Boccasile said they wanted to get into the spirit of the celebration, which includes the Fast Flat 5k race Saturday that ends right in front of his office.

“We will have agents here handing out water to the runners,” he said. “We want to show our support to the city.”

Rock hopes other businesses will follow suit, as well as residents, particularly those near any of the celebratory events taking place May 17-19.
