Rosario nets first goal for the Tigers

WESTFIELD – Dominic Rosario scored the first varsity goal of his career in the 25th minute for the Westfield Voc-Tech boys’ soccer team Thursday. Sci-Tech scored two minutes into each half for a 4-1 win over the Tigers.
“The Westfield Voke boys played really well,” Tigers’ coach Kyle Dulude said. “They played hard, they didn’t give up, they didn’t quit.”
Peter Makarchuk played well in the midfield for Voc-Tech, and teammate Adam Guilbert had a solid game at sweeper.
“Sci-Tech’s athleticism just overtook us at the end.”

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Southwick 4, Hampshire 0
Izzy Burns scored two goals, Hailee Hart added another, and Southwick benefited from an own goal. Paige Cool and Mikaela Martell each had an assist.
Megan Zabik (9 saves) earned a shutout in net for the Rams.
Westfield Voc-Tech 1, Hampden County Charter School 0
Voc-Tech rallied from a 1-0 first-half deficit to force a tie. Steff Costa scored on a pass from Brandi VanGelder.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Westfield 3, Pittsfield 0
Ellen Ferst (16 service points, 5 aces), Tracy Midwood (17 assists, 2 kills, 2 digs), and Maddy Atkociatis (5 blocks, 7 service points) led Westfield to victory.

JV GIRLS’ SOCCER
Southwick 1, Hampshire 1
Bridget Nobbs scored on a pass from Meaghan Coon for Southwick. Rams’ Meaghan Drzewicki had six saves in goal. Teammate Courtney Wheeler had two.
