Rough night for hometown teams

GRANBY – Granby came out on the winning side of a back and forth boys’ basketball contest, defeating visiting Southwick 48-38 Wednesday night.
Southwick enjoyed a slim lead at the half, 20-19, trailed by a point early in the fourth quarter, and led by six with about four minutes remaining in regulation before Granby went on a tear late.
“We didn’t get very good shots, (and) turned the ball over,” Southwick coach Dylan Dubuc said. “We didn’t box out or get stops so it was a disappointing loss to say the least.”
Ryan LeClair (12 points) and Chris Molta (10) were the lone Southwick players to reach double-digits in the scoring column. Matt Daley finished with seven for the Rams.

“I think our guys fought and played hard with energy against a good program on the road,” Dubuc explained. “Our inexperience … definitely showed down the stretch. It’s something to learn and get better from.”
