Saints rise

ST. MARY SAINTS

WESTFIELD – Move over Bruins, Celtics, and Tiger Woods, there’s a new winner emerging from the rough – the St. Mary High School girls lacrosse team. After nearly a three-year drought, the Saints have put a “W” in the win column.
Samantha Moran recorded a hat trick, Katarzyna Wisnauckas had two goals and one assist, and goalies Paighton Ramos and April Warner shut down the competition as St. Mary’s stunned Central 7-2 Monday.
“It was great to get our first win,” St. Mary girls lacrosse head coach Grace Ahrensdorf said. “Hopefully we can build off of it.”
There were several contributors to the epic victory.
Skyler Duda and Paighton Ramos each scored a goal for St. Mary’s. Saints’ Serena Griswold played tough defense with four interceptions.
Ramos and Warner made four saves apiece.
This was the team’s first win as a co-op team with Hampshire Regional.
