AMHERST – Westfield State junior Mike Sarkis fired a 75-76-151 to finish a seven-over-par second place at the Elms College Invitational Golf Tournament at Hickory Ridge Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
Sarkis’ effort helped the Owls to a fourth place finish at the 10-team meet, which was won by Endicott College with a team score of 618. Endicott’s Athan Goulas was the medalist with a four-over-par 148.
Westfield State was in third place after Saturday’s play with a team score of 322. While the Owls improved their score to 317 on day two, Nichols College was able to leapfrog the Owls to finish third place with a score of 637, with Rhode Island College second with 628.
Senior Kris Houda and sophomore Nick Eliopoulos finished tied for 17th in the individual standings, both shooting 161 for the tournament. Houda’s 79 was tied for the ninth best individual mark on Day 2. – Courtesy of Westfield State University Sports
