WESTFIELD – The School Committee took the opportunity of a visit from former Mayor Brian P. Sullivan to present him with a gift of appreciation for his years of dedication to their work at the March 2 meeting.

Committee members Cindy Sullivan and Diane Mayhew called Sullivan forward to present him with the gift of a lamp for his new office as director of the Green Communities program for the Commonwealth.

“Mayor, this is one of the greatest group of people you’ll ever have a chance to work with,” Sullivan said to Mayor Donald F. Humason Jr., chair of the School Committee.

“Thank you Mayor Sullivan, nice to see you back,” Humason replied.

“We wanted to show Brian that we appreciated the work we did together to strengthen the Westfield Public Schools.  He was often a light during challenging times and his leadership meant a lot to us.  We miss him and wish him the very best in his journey,” Cindy Sullivan said after the meeting.
