SOUTHWICK – It was a big day offensively for the Southwick-Tolland Regional High School baseball team.
Andrew Mitchell (4 hits, 4 RBIs), Vinny Fortini (3 hits, 3 RBIs), Bob Hamel (3 hits, 3 RBIs), Austin Decosmo (3 hits, 2 RBIs) and Kyle Manley (2 hits, RBI) led a 24-hit outburst for Southwick (7-2) in a 20-1 win against Holyoke Catholic Wednesday.
“In general, we had a real big day,” Rams’ coach Tim Karetka said. “We just hit the ball well.”
Southwick’s Nick Masserelli earned the win on the mound.
JUNIOR VARSITY
Southwick 15, Holyoke Catholic 3
It was an excellent all-around game for the Rams’ junior varsity squad.
Freshman Dan McLellan picked up the win his third start of the season. McLellan pitched four strong innings, yielding just three runs on two-hit ball. Freshman Pat Mahoney closed the game with three scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit.
Southwick took advantage of several walks and delivered a strong game on the basepaths to put away Holyoke Catholic in the final two innings. Travis Perrillo led the Rams’ offense with two hits and an RBI. Mahoney had a single.
