WVT softball clubs Smith Voke, 13-5

The Westfield Voc-Tech softball team won a big game against Smith Voke, 13-5.
Voc-Tech pitcher Megan Ilnicky pitched a complete game with a bit of help from shortstop Brandi Vangelder, who recorded nine putouts. Ilnicky also helped her own cause with her first career home run, a two-out, 3-run dinger, in the sixth inning.
Ilnicky’s battery mate, Elyza Colson helped out as well, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Amber Lindsay delivered a clutch two-out, two-run hit for Voc-Tech in the second inning with the bases loaded.
Voc-Tech enjoyed an early 8-1 lead before Smith put up a four-spot in the fifth. The Tigers strung together four hits to reclaim a sizeable advantage.
“Once again, I am very proud of these nine individuals and the character they show, and the respect they have for the game,” Voc-Tech coach Kyle Dulude said.
