Starfires on a roll, win again at home

WESTFIELD – The Westfield Starfires pulled off some more good old fashioned home cooking on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Vermont Lake Monsters 9-2 at Bullens Field.
A large crowd was on hand to witness the victory, giving the local nine a distinct home-field advantage.
Jaden Brown went 3-for-4 and Dougie DeLaCruz belted three RBI to pace the offense. Noah Lewis pitched five strong innings in his Starfire debut.
The Starfires (5-8), who ended a six-game losing streak last week, are now 4-2 over their last six games.
The Starfires split a double header with the Nashua Silver Knights Friday. In the night cap, Aidan Dunn, of Westfield scattered six hits over five innings, striking out seven batters. He allowed three runs. The Starfires fell to the Vermont Lake Monsters 4-1 Saturday.
