CHICOPEE – Westfield swimmer Jimmy Stinehart won the 50 freestyle (21.95), and helped the Bombers’ 200-yard medley relay shatter a school record in the boys’ swimming championship on Tuesday.
Stinehart, Matt Jacobson, Tim Kwarcinski, and John Dolan teamed up to win the 200 medley relay in 1:41.65, a record-setting time. The old mark, held by Chris Poremby, Mike Haight, Josh Cotugno, and Max Yazhbin, was set in 2006.
Stinehart also claimed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.49).
Kwarcinski finished second in the 200 IM (158.79) – edging out Minnechaug’s Tommy Normoyle (1:58.61) – and 500 free (4:52.12).
Westfield’s Matt Labombard took second in the 100 backstroke (55.51), and was also part of the silver medalist 200 free relay (Stinehart, Pat Monette, Chris Tu) and 400 free relay (Matt Jacobson, Kwarcinski, Dolan) teams which recorded times of 1:35.07, and 3:22.58, respectively.
Westfield, as a team, finished second overall (169 points), behind first-place Minnechaug (345). Amherst (249.5), Northampton (169), and Monson (161) rounded out the top five.
