HUNTINGTON – Fall often brings changes to the season in the northeast, but one thing never changes in Huntington – the stability of the Gateway Regional High School girls’ soccer team.
Gateway remains unbeaten at the quarter mark of the 2016 season at 3-0-1 following its latest victory, a 5-1 win over visiting Renaissance Wednesday.
The story of the game was Jessica van Heynigen. The junior forward recorded a hat trick and assisted on another goal as unbeaten Gateway rolled at home.
Sam Belardo (assist) and Kendyll Wing scored one goal apiece for Gateway. Gators’ Ava Auclair also had an assist.
Gateway goalies Becca Herman and Donna Viel combined for two saves.

Senior captain Ryan Towle had a fantastic outing on the links, shooting an even-par 36 at Westover Golf Course.
Westfield improved to 4-0 overall, 2-0 league.

St. Mary’s Luke Willenborg medaled with a 42 at Tekoa Country Club. Andrew Florek picked up a key 2.5 points at the second spot to force a tie.

Emily Lachtara (10 digs, 3 kills, 1 ace), McKinley White (9 kills, 2 aces, 1 block), and Caroline Methe (9 aces, 8 assists, 5 digs) paved the way for a Southwick road win.
