WESTFIELD – West Springfield won a tough battle against Westfield in girls’ lacrosse action Tuesday, 13-9, at the Bombers’ home field.
Stephanie Godek led West Side with five goals and one assist.
Victoria Whalen notched two goals and four assists for Westfield. Bombers’ Rachel Gelina netted a hat trick (3 goals).
West Side goalie Olivia Frosch made 14 saves.
“That was the big difference in the game,” Westfield coach Paul Fenwick said of the Terriers’ keeper.

WESTFIELD – Westfield won at first doubles (Olga Korobokov/Kayla Therrien) 6-1, 6-1, and second doubles (Logan Baillargeon/Taylor Perry) 7-5, 6-2.
Bombers’ third singles player, Nicole Kamal, lost a tough match to Agawam’s Emma Armfield, 7-6, (8-6), 7-5.
“It was a very close (third singles) match,” Westfield coach Karen Whitaker said. “Both played very well and hard – (a) great match!”

Scarfo, WHS take down Hurricanes
BOYS’ LACROSSE
Westfield 15, Amherst 3
AMHERST – Westfield notched a key road victory Tuesday at Amherst. Sam Scarfo had three goals and four assists to lead the Bombers.
Westfield’s other offensive leaders from the day, included: Matt Gentle (2 goals, 1 assist), Matt Chlastawa (2 goals), Luke Chlastawa (2 goals), Jeff Bourgoine (2 goals), Garrett Fitzgerald (1 goal, 1 assist), Anthony Sullivan (1 goal), Rashaun Rivers (1 goal), Eric Laplante (1 goal), Austin Hodgdon (1 assist), and Anthony Visconti (1 assist).
Bombers’ goalie Jake Cupak finished with 13 saves.
Garrett Matthews, Corey Ward, Kane Miller, Kevin Chambers, and Sam Evans delivered defensively for Westfield.
The Bombers next travel to Longmeadow to square off against the Lancers Thursday.
