Diamond tosses gem

SOUTHWICK – Southwick freshman pitcher Emily Lachtara has been brilliant on the mound this season, but on Tuesday it was another Rams’ arm that delivered a gem.
Southwick pitcher Olivia Diamond pitched a one-hitter, striking out seven batters in five innings as the Rams shut out visiting Granby 12-0 Tuesday. Diamond allowed no walks.
The victory – Southwick’s 10th – earned the Rams (10-1) a tournament berth.
Diamond also shined at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI.
Morgan Harriman (triple, 2 RBIs), Jen Yellin (hit, RBI), and Kate Sylvia (hit, RBI) also delivered at the plate for Southwick.

Gators halted in five
Renaissance 15, Gateway 2 (5 inn.)

SPRINGFIELD – Casey McKittrick had an RBI double, and Kendall Rooney collected an RBI hit for Gateway. Gators’ Erica Wolfe and Sammy Dame (1-for-2) each scored a run.

Velasquez, Lindsay top Tigers
Pathfinder 29, Westfield Voc-Tech 11

Westfield Voc-Tech’s Johanna Velasquez delivered a solid effort from the catcher spot, defensively, and delivered at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Amber Lindsay also doubled, and had three RBIs for the Tigers.
Westfield Voc-Tech next plays Franklin Tech Wednesday, May 7 at Whitney Field at 4 p.m.
