Westfield State Defeats WNE, 144-113

SPRINGFIELD – The Westfield State University women’s swimming and diving team defeated Western New England University, 144-113 on Wednesday.
It was the first victory in four meets for the Owls, who return to action this Saturday when they compete in the Little East Conference championships at UMass Dartmouth.
Junior Kirsten LaMotte was a triple winner in the meet at Western New England, placing first in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 50 freestyle. Sophomore Katie Cox was a double winner, hitting the wall first in the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke.
The Owls’ other first places were recorded by Katie Cox (200 freestyle), Kaylee Hopkins (100 freestyle) and Katie Inoue (500 freestyle). Inoue also finished second in the 100 butterfly.
