WSU Hockey Team Reads To Students

WESTFIELD – Members of Westfield State University varsity men’s ice hockey team recently participated in the ‘reach out and read (ROAR) community program in the Westfield school district.
The hockey players read books to student at elementary schools in the area, including; Juniper Park, Franklin Avenue, Highland, Munger Hill, Paper Hill, Southampton Road and Fort Meadow Early Childhood Center.
Barbara Trant, coordinator of the Volunteers in Public Schools of Westfield (VIPS), stated the members of the hockey team did a great job.
“My feedback was good from teachers who were happy to have them. Thank you for sharing (your players) with our students,” said Trant.
