On the road again!! The game was at Olympia this morning to play Holy Name. Westfield’s defense started with Charlie Wilson in goal. He had 23 saves for the day. Jacob Millard came out strong with a 3 goal game and an assist to Jake Balser. Sean McMahon and Isaac Durfey helped Jacob with their assists. Jake Balser and Sean McMahon were quick on offense and had 2 goals each. Nicholas LaComb had a goal in today’s game. Andrew Galczynski made a key play with his assist. Liam Dolan, Gavin Trzepacz, Parker Stockseth played good defense. The team played well today showing their passing skills and valiant teamwork. Holy Name was able to take the win today.

WTM 17, Westfield 7

Another early morning start for the Mite 1 team at Amelia Park. Charlie Wilson was goaltender and had an amazing 21 saves for the game. Liam Dolan was fierce today and had an amazing 3 goals. Sean McMahon had 2 goals. Gavin Trzepacz and Parker Stockseth each had a goal. Nicholas LaComb was key with his assist to Sean McMahon. Jake Balser, Issaac Durfey and Andrew Galczynski played well on offense and defense today. Westfield played with a lot of intensity and teamwork but WTM was able to take the win.

Olympia Ice Arena, West Springfield

On Wednesday night the Jr. Bombers played their first GSL playoff game against Holy Name. In the mid first period Holy Name struck first scoring on a breakaway to give them an early 1-0 lead. The Bombers tied the score shortly after when Evan Michellucci fired a pass from Rick Moritko into the Holy Name net. Holy Name would score in late first period giving them a one goal lead after one.
In the second period Westfield would tie the game at two on an unassisted goal by Rick Moritko. The Jr. Bombers would score their third goal when Brannon Miele scored with an assist from Blake Cavallon. Westfield would score before the end of the second on Brannon Miele’s second goal of the game, assisted by Paul Lawry and Jesse Spear.
In the third Holy Name struck first cutting the Westfield lead to one. The Jr. Bombers increased their lead to two when Brannon Miele completed the hat trick, assisted by Jesse Spear. Holy Name would once again cut into the Westfield lead until Jesse Spear scored (with goalie pulled) to ice the game and give the Jr. Bombers a 6-4 victory.
The Westfield defense played well all game and Sawyer King was outstanding in net making 16 saves.

Westfield Squirt 3 Red 8, Ludlow 7
January 24, 2016

Westfield Squirt Red held onto their #1 spot in the GSL after an intense match between the two rivals. Reid Imbriglio made an outstanding 6 goals during this match up. At two points during the game, the two teams had a tied score; however Westfield never put themselves behind. The defense on this team was amazing with Spencer Roy and Sean Johnson assisting their goalie in making rebound saves on the net. Sarah McMahon and Emerson Trzepacz kept the Ludlow team at bay and worked tirelessly to keep the puck away from the goal. Brayden Munger and Cyler Sgroi kept the Ludlow team on their toes offering great offensive moves. Nolan Lafayette and Spencer Roy made critical passes to ensure that goals were scored for Westfield. Case Viamari and Liam Barry both scored goals during the first and second period. With three minutes remaining in the game, it was tied up 7-7. Reid Imbriglio brought home the win, scoring the final goal with less than 3 minutes remaining. Leaving the final score Westfield 8, Ludlow 7.

Westfield Squirt 3 Red 3, WTM 1
Westfield Squirt 3 Red walked away with a win against WTM. At the end of the first period both teams were fighting to get a puck in the net. Approximately 5 minutes into the second period, Gavin Connors scored the first goal to push the Westfield team into the lead. This was followed by a second goal from Reid Imbriglio, and a third from Case Viamari. WTM tried desperately to catch up, however Emerson Trzepacz was unstoppable in the net, making amazing blocks and saves. At the close of the third period WTM was able to squeak one past the strong defense on the Westfield team, leaving the score at 3-1 Westfield. The entire team worked relentlessly to guarantee this win.

Westfield Jr. Bombers Mite 3 Black
Division: Mite 3 vs. Capitals
January 24, 2016

An early morning rendezvous with a strong Capitals team was in order for the Jr. Bombers this snow free Sunday morning, with hopes of sledding dashed from the absent Winter Storm Jonas the teams took to the ice. An excellent back and forth match up was led by a herculean effort in goal for the Jr. Bombers by Daniel Methe. The defensive effort lead by Matty Bussell, Alex Saalfrank, Carsen Michelucci & Milana Shuman kept the Capitals frustrated time and again. The Bombers offense not to be out done went head to head with a tough defense by the Capitals. With fantastic scoring from Josh Healy, Connor Laiho & Treygan Lemanski each with 1goal, the game tying goal came with only minutes left as Olivia Pinney netted her first of the season sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Josh Masse finished with 2 goals the last putting the Jr. Bombers ahead with under a minute left. Outstanding skating and excellent teamwork won the day for the Jr. Bombers against a formidable opponent.

Westfield Jr. Bombers Mite 3 Black vs. Nonotuck
January 17, 2016

A fantastic matchup against a tough Nonotuck team was on tap at Smead Arena in this early morning matchup. Connor Laiho laced up the big pads and roamed the crease against a heavy attack from Nonotuck determined to keep them at bay. He had help from a tough defensive effort from Olivia Pinney, Milana Shuman, Josh Masse, Josh Cormier-Healy & Alex Saalfrank. With precision passing and laser focus Daniel Methe lead the Jr. Bombers offense with 6 goals and Treygan Lemanksi following suit with 1.
