WHS boys’ lax edges Northampton, 6-4

NORTHAMPTON – Ryan Wilson scored three goals and had one assist to lead Westfield to a big road victory against Northampton 6-4.
Max Miller (2 goals), Chris Pray (goal), Kevin Papineau (2 assists), Matt Lacroix (assist), Craig Ward (assist), and Sam Scarfo (assist) also lent a hand in Westfield’s offense.
The defense was equal to the task, limiting Northampton’s offensive attack.
“Holding them to four goals is excellent defense,” Westfield coach Mark Cavalon said.
Ethan Nassar, Brian Jensen, Sam Evans, Zach Pechulis, Jordan Bein, and Garrett Mathews spearheaded the defensive effort for Westfield. Lacroix and Craig Ward won the majority of faceoffs as well, allowing the Bombers (5-1) to maintain possession throughout.
Westfield goalie Jake Cupak had a strong outing in net, collecting 11 saves in the victory.
